Book Review - The Book of Boundaries

Writer's picture: KiyaKiya

I listened to this audiobook after leaving it on my TBR list for many months. I was thrilled to discover that this book, though in the self-help category, is very practical and actionable. I was inspired!

The author, Melissa Urban, begins the book by detailing how boundaries helped her preserve her sobriety early on in her recovery. She believes that boundaries are a tool that can be easily used to give one more freedom in their life.

She notes that women, especially self-defined people pleasers, struggle most with setting and holding boundaries. Urban repeatedly asserts that boundaries that are clear and kind, communicated to others, are a method to build better, closer, more intimate relationships with loved ones. Boundaries are not walls we build up around ourselves, but rather enable others to understand us better. Urban retells many sticky situations in this book, and then provides a huge number of boundary statements that you can use. She gives you the exact words to set you free.

The Book of Boundaries by Melissa Urban

3/5 stars - a practical and empowering read. I definitely recommend it!

I hope that you are completely booked!
